Governance of A$20bn Australian health fund under scrutiny

All aspects of Medical Research Future Fund’s operations to be reviewed by national auditor

Australia’s A$20 billion Medical Research Future Fund is being audited by the National Audit Office amid calls for more independent decision-making about its distribution of funds.

The audit will examine the governance, operation and assessment of the fund. Ryan Davis, president of the Australian Society for Medical Research, told Research Professional News that the society welcomed the audit, which it had been calling for. “Many of our members have been critical of processes and administration of the MRFF,” he said.
