Half a billion dollars announced for major cultural bodies

Australian galleries, libraries and archives to get funding relief

Australia’s major collecting institutions have been thrown a A$535.3 million lifeline by prime minister Anthony Albanese.

The institutions covered by the announcement on 5 April are: the Australian National Maritime Museum, the Bundanon Trust, the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, the National Archives of Australia, the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, the National Gallery of Australia, the National Library of Australia, the National Museum of Australia and the National Portrait Gallery.
