ANU leader calls for new definition of research translation

Successful transfer must go beyond commercial thinking to have biggest impact, Tim Senden says

Australia needs to “redefine translational research” to get the most out of the knowledge it produces, a leading scientist has said.

Tim Senden, director of the research school of physics and engineering at the Australian National University (ANU), said research translation was being treated as “synonymous with commercialisation” in Australia. He warned that this could cause important knowledge to be lost in the knowledge-transfer process.
