Australian regulator warns that trust in science is at risk

Understanding and awareness of gene technologies “have worsened” among Australians, a national regulator has said.

A recent report from the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator said that “at best, 27 per cent of Australians surveyed feel they know enough about cloning of animals to explain it”, down from the 2015 figure of 39 per cent.
