NT backs child development research centre

The Northern Territory government is committing AU$1.5 million towards the establishment of a child development research centre.

The Centre for Child Development and Education is a joint initiative of the state government, Charles Darwin University and the Menzies School of Health Research, with additional funding provided by the Ian Potter Foundation and the Sidney Myer Fund.

It will bring together researchers from health, education, and social research fields to gather evidence to inform government policy on child development and education.

“I believe the Centre is an exciting new development that will pave the way for new and innovative strategies in Indigenous education, health, and family services,” said chief minister Paul Henderson in a statement on 23 September.
