WA launches three science programmes

John Day, West Australia’s minister for science and innovation, launched three programmes on 6 February aimed at supporting science in the state.

The Research Centres Program will provide funding for three to five years for research and development in a “specific and important” area.

The Innovation Investment Facilitation Program is intended to support the development of research funding proposals to Australian and international sources.

The Innovation Capability Development Program is for small and medium-sized businesses in WA to implement e-commerce technology.

“The State Government is committed to investing in key areas that will deliver direct benefits to the State and also build a strong future for WA,” said Day.

“These three programs aim to encourage scientific research; support our research institutes to develop winning funding proposals; and enable small to medium sized enterprises to incorporate digital technologies,” he added.
