South Australian scientist of the year named

Karen Reynolds, a professor of biomedical engineering, has been named South Australia’s Scientist of the Year.

The award recognises outstanding research work, both local and international, Tom Kenyon, the state’s minister for science and information economy, said on 17 August.

The honour comes with an AU$20,000 prize and was announced at the 2012 Science Excellence Awards. The awards highlight the achievements of South Australia’s scientists, researchers, PhD students, STEM educators and early-career professionals. A further eight awardees received AU$10,000 each.
