Scrapping Gonski funding ‘immoral’, says Nats minister

The Abbott government faces a deepening rift over education policy with its Coalition partners, the rural-based Nationals, following a heated clash with state education ministers in Sydney.

New South Wales education minister Adrian Piccoli accused the Abbott government of acting “immorally” in scrapping school funding commitments made by the previous Gillard and Rudd governments.

The decision means that New South Wales will lose more than $2 billion in education funding.
