The Coalition has told crossbench senators it plans to resubmit legislation for its higher education reforms, with an early election likely to be called mid-year if the bill is rejected again.
“They’ve said they’re going to bring it back within three months’ time, which mind you, will be in the form of a trigger,” Victorian senator Ricky Muir told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on 24 March.
Muir, who represents the Australian Motoring Enthusiasts Party, told the ABC he had asked Labor to release its education policy “so the public has a chance to see what they’re up against.”
