ANAO shines the spotlight on science agencies

Australia’s federal watchdog is set to publish five major reports examining the administration of Australia’s top science agencies and the effective delivery of research grants.

The Australian National Audit Office, which probes the accountability and integrity of all federal agencies and departments, has announced its first batch of reports for 2016 will include an evaluation of federal grants programmes.

This will include a detailed financial analysis of grants administered by the Australian Research Council and the National Health and Medical Research Council. The reports will scrutinise how the grants are allocated and whether they represent value for money to the Australian public.
