‘Lifestyle diplomas’ dumped in TAFE reforms

Hundreds of tertiary diplomas will no longer qualify for government-subsidised student loans as part of federal reforms to Australia’s vocational training system.

Education minister Simon Birmingham has announced a list of 478 vocational courses that will no longer be eligible for government subsidies.

They include diplomas in circus arts, fashion styling, screen acting, floristry design, pilates, social media marketing, aromatherapy, reflexology and holistic counselling.
