Researchers asked for ideas on data sharing

The Turnbull government wants researchers to contribute to a national online survey aimed at identifying the benefits of sharing high-value data collected by federal agencies and departments.

Assistant minister for digital transformation, Angus Taylor, launched the survey on 17 November in collaboration with the federal Department of Social Services. It asks researchers to register their interest and to submit ideas to a “brainstormer” site.

“Our ability to solve many of the great challenges of our time rests on the effective sharing and analysis of data,” Taylor said.
