State looks to new technologies to meet carbon emissions challenge

Victoria will “race to build its own quantum computer” but will first try to build on available resources, the state’s lead scientist has said.

Amanda Caples (pictured), who is also a director of the Breakthrough Victoria innovation fund, was addressing a 25 October webinar on quantum technologies and energy use. She said the state wanted to focus on “devices, software and applications” using third parties’ computers.
