Australian state’s long-term research strategy meets short-term electoral cycle

Less than a year ago, Australia’s citizens ousted the former Liberal-National coalition government and replaced it with prime minister Anthony Albanese’s Labor Party, in a dramatic general election.

Since the new government began work in May 2022, scientists across the country have been getting a clearer picture of what the future holds as Labor policymakers begin implementing their vision for universities, manufacturing and research.
