The National Tertiary Education Union of Australia has launched an online campaign aimed at increasing government funding for universities.
The campaign, Invest in Australia’s Future, Invest in our Universities, was launched on 21 November.
It calls on the government to increase student funding by 10 per cent, as recommended by the Bradley Review of higher education, initiated in March 2008.
The campaign also urges the government to commit to achieving expenditure on higher education of one per cent of GDP, in line with the OECD average.
The online campaign comes when Australian universities are experiencing frequent job cuts and rising staff-to-student ratios.
