Researchers sign pharma deal to tackle arthritis

A team of researchers from the University of Queensland has received a seed grant from pharmaceutical company Janssen-Cilag Pty Ltd to develop a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, UniQuest, the university’s main research commercialisation company, announced on 17 January.

The seed grant will fund pre-clinical studies for Ranjeny Thomasand and her team at the university’s Diamantina Institute.

The treatment may also benefit type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis sufferers, the statement said.

The value of the grant has not been disclosed.
