Melbourne to establish school of government

The University of Melbourne is to establish a school of government aimed at strengthening the study of policy, public administration and governance.

The school will be based within the university’s arts faculty and absorb the existing Centre for Public Policy, the university said on 21 November.

Glyn Davis, the university’s vice-chancellor, said that the school will provide a platform for informed and independent debate on public policy challenges in ‘the Asian Century’.

“The Melbourne School of Government will seek to unite policy makers, industry leaders and members of the public to help provide workable policy solutions,” he said.

It will launch in 2013.
