The University of Western Australia wants to be a global leader on stem cells research and has recruited Geoff Laurent, director of the Centre for Respiratory Research and head of the department of internal medicine at University College London, to lead a centre to be set up at the university, it was announced on 6 February.
UWA vice-chancellor Paul Johnson said the centre would help the university take a leading global position in stem cell research.
