UNSW energy institute chairman named

The Australian Energy Research Institute at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) has recruited George Maltabarow—who previously headed Ausgrid, the country’s largest electricity network—as its inaugural chairman.

Maltabarow‘s appointment will bolster links with industry and government, the university said on 26 July.

The institute was established in 2011 as a sustainable energy think tank with a “holistic approach” to solving energy-related problems, bringing together engineers, economists and policy experts to translate research outcomes into real-world applications.
