New South Wales nursing academics have raised concerns about university pressures to pass underperforming international students, saying there is a danger they could put lives at risk.
University of Western Sydney senior nursing lecturer Barbara Beale told the Australia Broadcasting Corporation’s investigative current affairs programme “4 Corners” that she feared some graduates were not qualified to treat patients.
The programme follows a damning report published on 16 April by the NSW public service watchdog, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, which warned the state’s universities of the dangers of over-relying on funds from full-fee paying international students.
