The principal of a Sydney vocational training college has urged a federal review panel to investigate a university admission scheme known as “a slip back offer”.
Bedford College chief executive Christina Scaife told the Higher Education Standards Panel inquiry that the scheme gives students “the mistaken impression” that they have been offered a university place.
Scaife says many students are unaware that they are being offered a short-term college diploma course that does “not provide any credit towards a degree programme” and which may not be recognised by other universities.
