ANU opinion poll reveals strong support for academics and basic research
University researchers are more trusted than the federal government, public servants and even their own universities, according to a poll conducted by the Australian National University in Canberra.
The survey looked at public attitudes to universities compared with other public institutions such as major companies, banks and schools. University researchers scored the highest ranking (81 per cent) for public trust, compared with 27 per cent for the federal government and 20 per cent for Australia’s media.
