Analyst calls for more data on language problems at universities

Better reporting could identify problems with English skills among international students, says former government adviser

Australia’s universities should “report more extensively” on international student enrolments, including levels of English language proficiency, a leading education policy analyst has said.

Andrew Norton, a former federal government adviser on higher education policy, says this would help create a national database that could identify potential issues around English language competency and dropout rates at universities.
