Doctoral candidates face a ‘lottery’ when it comes to examination, study says

PhD supervisors in Australia believe that the research autonomy of doctoral candidates can sometimes be undermined by examination processes, a study has found.

The study, published on 30 November in the journal Higher Education Research and Development, surveyed Australian universities to find gaps in the research degree process.
