University of Melbourne ‘pauses’ McKenzie fellowships after 2021 applications close, leaving researchers in limbo

A potential pool of three million Australian dollars in postdoctoral research funding has evaporated with the cancellation of next year’s McKenzie Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University of Melbourne.

The prestigious fellowships pay researchers about AU $93,000 a year for three years, plus up to $25,000 a year each in research costs. They are reserved for recent PhD graduates with outstanding results from universities other than Melbourne.
