Tokenism in Australian health research must end, editorials say

Push for Indigenous data ownership gathers momentum with journal editorials and Melbourne initiative

“Tokenism” in health research involving Indigenous people needs to be called out, and publication practices around health research need to be more inclusive, an editorial in a leading global health publication has said.  

The authors of the editorial in the journal Plos Global Public Health said that “black wallpapering” and tokenism were common in public health research.
