Australian block grant changes ‘unbalanced’, universities say

Proposed changes to A$2.1 billion in university research funding opposed by peak body

Universities Australia has come out against the changes to Australia’s research block grants (RBG) scheme that were proposed as part of the previous government’s Research Translation Action Plan.

In a continuation of its campaign to have more direct support for research, UA said that spending should be moved away from tax breaks to direct funding, in what it called a “rebalance”.
