Australia’s students and universities frustrated by visa processes, but government looks ahead to future

Brian Schmidt, the Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist and vice-chancellor of Australian National University, has spent much of his career being celebrated as one of Australia’s top scientists.

The US native has donated thousands of dollars to supporting science in schools, served as a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, and been awarded a Companion Order of Australia.
