Next assessment system should look beyond ARC-funded research and “citation-type indicators”, experts say

University researchers are waiting to hear what will replace Australia’s longstanding system for rating their work.

The Sheil review of the Australian Research Council (ARC) recommended that the twin Excellence in Research for Australia and Engagement and Impact measuring exercises be scrapped. Education minister Jason Clare is yet to respond, but with Era and EI already paused, it seems certain that they are finished.
