Call for switch to public-health research

Twenty-five per cent of national and EU health research funding should go to public-health research, a massive hike from the 5 per cent it gets now, a study recommends. An EU-funded project called Strengthening Engagement in Public Health Research (Steps) released the study at a public health conference in Bad Gastein, Austria, earlier this month. The authors also call on European health ministers to develop new national strategies for public-health research.
