The European Southern Observatory signed an agreement with the Chilean government to establish the European Extremely Large Telescope in the country.
Chile’s minister of foreign affairs Alfredo Moreno and ESO’s director general Tim de Zeeuw sealed the deal in Santiago de Chile on 13 October.
