EU industry spending rises after two-year lull

Industrial research spending in Europe is up again by 6.1 per cent after dropping over the past two years, according to the Commission’s 2011 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard.

The scoreboard, published on 18 October, shows that the EU’s 400 biggest industrial research spenders increased their R&D spending to €132 billion in 2010. This is an increase of 6.1 per cent on 2009 and the first time in two years that such spending has seen a boost.
