Europe invites Russia to join Mars missions

Europe has asked Russia to participate in the ExoMars missions in 2016 and 2018, the BBC reports.

The European and US space agencies are struggling to fund the ExoMars programme, which aims to send a rover to Mars to research its surface and launch a Mars orbiter for atmospheric research. If Russia refuses to contribute, the missions may be cancelled.
