Germany launches European alliance for climate research

A European network of climate research centres who aim to tackle large-scale research projects was launched by the German Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar Research on 5 October.

The European Climate Research Alliance brings together research centres from Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Denmark and Sweden. The alliance was organised by the AWI, after the centre’s director Karin Lochte found that Europe lacks the capacity to launch large-scale and long-term research projects on climate change.
