Physicists look to next generation of particle accelerators

Particle physicists have met at Cern in Switzerland to discuss the most promising concept for a linear collider that will be used in conjunction with the Large Hadron Collider to investigate the fundamental nature of matter.

The news service reports a meeting of 150 scientists, research directors and government representatives at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, Cern, which straddles the Franco-Swiss border.
