Vatican Bank bids to rescue bankrupt institute

A bankrupt institute for biomedical research in Milan, Italy, may be rescued by the Vatican bank, Nature reports.

The San Raffaele Scientific Institute, which includes a 1,400-bed research hospital, a centre for basic research and a university, has run debts worth about €1.5 billion.
