More money, more problems for France’s research elite

A group of research-intensive universities in France has warned that the extra costs of overheads in research projects is causing them serious financial strain, reports Libération’s science blog Sciences2.

According to the blog, CURIF, a group of universities including most of the Paris-based institutions and the top research institutions in Toulouse, Montpellier and Bordeaux, wants to see the full costs of research covered in funding from the government’s €34 billion economic stimulus package.
