The last hurdle on Croatia’s accession to the EU was passed on 9 December, clearing the way for the country to become the 28th EU member on 1 July 2013.
A treaty of accession has been signed in Brussels by the EU’s 27 heads of state, as well as Croatia’s president and prime minister.
