Iter budget deal finally reached

The three EU government bodies have agreed on how to fund Iter’s €1.3-billion cost overruns until 2013, after arduous negotiations.

The nuclear fusion project’s funding gap will be plugged by shifting money from other budget areas, as proposed by MEPs who sought to protect Framework 7 from budget cuts (see RE 1 Dec 10).
