European governments are increasingly evaluating the effects and usefulness of their policies, according to a study funded by the European Commission.
The Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies project, undertaken by universities in the UK and the Netherlands, found that scientific assessment of policy is on the rise. The researchers said that the number of reports on government policies had increased significantly between 2000 and 2005.
