Switzerland launches €85m fund for development research

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (DEZA) and the Swiss National Science Foundation have created a joint fund for research on “global issues”, worth CHF 100 million (about €85m) over 8 years.

The research is to be carried out in and with developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The money will finance interdisciplinary research partnerships aiming to develop “innovative solutions” for sustainable development in poor countries.
