Food authority opens consultation on food and feed from GM animals

The European Food Safety Authority has opened a public consultation on how to assess the safety of genetically modified animal products for food and feed.

Although so far no companies have applied for EU market approval of food and feed derived from GM animals, the European Commission had already tasked Efsa in 2007 with developing risk assessment guidance of potential future applications.
