Failure is an option
The Institute of Brilliant Failures in Amsterdam dares you to share your fiascos. They may earn you this year’s award for “best learning moment in development cooperation”. Listed science flops include Pfizer’s failed clinical trials for an angina medicine—which led to the creation of Viagra—and Nasa’s scout rocket programme revamp after 22 failed training flights. The prize is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands and online proposals can be submitted until 1 October.
