Policy is an ‘afterthought’ to successful innovation

Successful US innovators see policy as an “afterthought”, says Ann Mettler, head of Brussels think-tank the Lisbon Council.

“The people we met appeared very focused on what it takes for them to be successful and profitable, without necessarily pondering the wider implications,” Mettler writes in her blog after a visit to IT companies in the Silicon Valley.
