Consultation backs bigger role for innovation institute

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology should play a greater role in future research programmes, according to a European Commission consultation published on 8 September. The 187 respondents, from business and academia, wanted the EIT to have a “distinctive” place in Horizon 2020, the follow-up programme to Framework 7, and demanded better alignment between the EIT and the public–private Knowledge and Innovation Community partnerships.
