Thousands of German students face expulsion from university after taking too long to complete their courses under the old diploma system, according to Der Spiegel.
The German weekly reported last month that 32 students had been expelled from the University of Cologne after failing to pass all exams in time to progress to master’s level before their courses were phased out. The publication subsequently reported, on 31 August, that it had received hundreds of responses from students facing similar action.
