The EU and Russia are doing more than ever before to help Europeans join Russia’s research programmes. Inga Vesper talks to government adviser Irina Kuklina about how the European AccessRU programme has helped.
The EU is becoming Russia’s most important partner for international collaboration, topping its links with Asian neighbours and with the United States.
Data obtained by Research Europe show that in Russia’s 2011 calls for international researchers to collaborate there, 113 applicants were from European partners. This tops the 86 applications received from the US and Canada, and 66 applications from China, South Korea and Taiwan combined (see table below).
