EU and US plan alternative code of conduct for space activities

The US and the EU are preparing a code of conduct for space activities, including how to deal with space debris, Reuters reports.

The code is expected to set up guidelines on the creation of space debris, such as disused rockets, broken satellites and spacecraft fragments, which orbit Earth at dangerous speeds. The debris poses a risk to spacecrafts and to the thousands of communication satellites in the lower orbit.
