Business groups are urging policymakers to protect the proposed Horizon 2020 European research budget of €80 billion (£64bn), even if the overall EU budget for 2014 to 2020 is cut.
But alongside an unequivocal ‘do not touch’ message on the research budget, lobbyists say the Horizon 2020 proposal itself needs modification to ensure it is fully accessible to businesses.
