EU pushes for biodiversity goals at international convention

A delegation of European Union representatives is in India this week to discuss global progress on the Aichi biodiversity goals at the 2012 meeting of parties involved in the Convention on Biological Diversity.

The conference is trying to reach international agreements on 20 targets to protect and preserve biodiversity on the planet. The European Commission’s environment directorate general has sent a delegation led by its deputy head of unit François Wakenhut to push for strict international goals.
